I will perform a solo live performance in Dublin 14 November. Facebook event page here.

Tzaba

AMoon / Paradoxical Recordings have made this enchantingly hallucinogenic video - wherein he has "remixed" the Art of Dolorosa de la Cruz - for a track we did together a couple of years ago. It was originally created as soundtrack music, and as a result it's principally an atmospheric piece, but we both always quite liked it so it's great to present it again this way.

Audere

Blown away by this fantastic video of Suzanne Walsh, Diarmuid MacDiarmada and I at our very best. This was from our performance on Halloween night of last year, our first and only show since our LP release, which featured all new and unreleased material. This rather Lovercraftian piece was entirely improvised on the spot, quite amazed by what a success it is and how it really sounds like nothing else. Brilliant and slightly terrifying cameo appearance from Gavin Prior and Miranda Driscoll (who both kindly invited us to play the event) in the video too.

Sabriam

New ambient piece available for free download

Here at Bandcamp. This is in my ambient style, and was created in memory of a friend of mine who passed away - ten years ago last month - whom I miss and fondly remember very much. It's intended to be peaceful and soothing rather than sad.

At One Fell Swoop screening

The movie At One Fell Swoop, which I did music for, will be screened at the CJC Paris Festival for Different Cinema: 7th - 18th October. Delighted to see that they have chosen to use a still from it on this webpage.

Basics

"Here is where they put the waves in the air. Mercy, the mind gets blank and bare..."

New music video from myself: a deformed ditty, a vibrant howling, collision of warped VHS and warped vocals.

Thanks also to The Thin Air for featuring it on their site.

"You are, you choose, you decide, you want. Get numb, you forget."

Light

A short documentary on my musical work is available to view online now, here and here. Filmed over the last few months, there is footage of me at work in my home studio, playing live with Patrick Kelleher and studio recording and live performance at Unit 1 Studios with Marc Aubele as Tenro. There are also excerpts of - mostly previously unreleased - solo music of mine.

Binn Dá Charraig

A piece from Jamie Grimes and myself - "The Evocation Of Qedemel" - is now finally made available to hear at Soundcloud. Recorded live at the Sonic Arts Waterford festival in September 2013, this is a highlight from what I believe was our finest live performance to date. An album-length release containing this and other unreleased work from the same time will be made available very soon. Special thanks are due to Moose's custom electronics. for the custom made effects pedals which can be heard being used quite prominently in this track.

Towards The First

For the attention of Cork, Clonakilty, Galway and Dublin folk:
My new band with Marc Aubele - Tenro - will be playing next week, alongside Laura Sheeran (who took this fantastic photo of us... these shows will also see the debut of new material from her) and Italy's (r) (Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo of Blind Cave Salamander + Larsen and Daniele Pagliero).
The material that I have created with Marc for Tenro is, I feel, truly some of the very best that I have been involved in producing. It's a kind of music I've dreamt of making for a long time, and has even exceeded the expectations of my imagination. There's been a wealth of outstanding material recorded and much of it tantalisingly close to completion. We could easily fill a couple of standard-length albums with the best of what we have already and still have more. Most of all I'm really looking forward to other people getting to hear it. Some tracks are upbeat and danceable, some soothing and narcotic, some challenging, some sinister, some funny, some harrowing, but all vibrant and intense.
The dates follow. Dublin people please note that the Dublin show is strictly limited to thirty tickets only, and is effectively an invite only event, so if you want to attend the Dublin gig you will need to inquire at the email address below as soon as possible.
30 April - DeBarra's Folk Club - CLONAKILTY
1 May - Cork Community Print Shop - CORK (byob)
2 May - FEAST @ Roisin Dubh - GALWAY
3 May - UNIT1 Studios - DUBLIN (only *30* tix available: email unit1innit@gmail.com for info)

RSG

I will be joining Patrick Kelleher on stage for a couple of songs this Saturday night (9:30 to be precise) in Dublin's Pantibar (the gay bar owned by the truly inspiring and remarkably eloquent gay rights activist and drag queen Panti), a fundraiser event for the Yes Equality campaign (for civil marriage equality for same-sex couples in Ireland) and for the Outhouse LGBT community resource centre. I have also submitted a solo track of my own to the compilation which will be released at the event, also a fundraiser for the same causes.

"Alright, well here's a class act here..."

Delighted to make public a new project I've working on with Marc Aubele of Nanu Nanu, Pigg, and Bellx1. Recording in near total darkness during all-night sessions over the last winter has resulted in a load of material, of which this track is the first made available to hear. I'm immensely proud of this track and I feel that it is one the single best pieces of music that I've been involved in the creation of (and I feel similarly about a lot of the other material too).

Pneumatici

Catscars - Totally live

From the last gig I played at the much-missed Joinery last year, this - to my ears - is one of those rare things; a live recording which actually captures to some extent the energy of the performance. Catscars live in this instance was, as it has been for the last three years, the songs of Robyn Bromfield aided + abetted by Patrick Kelleher on drums and dystopian motorik and myself on electronics and energized enthusiasm.

From Silence Unto Speaking And Back Again

A piece of mine from last year, made available to hear online at Soundcloud for the first time now. This was contributed to last year's Sonic Arts Waterford festival for use in an installation, a collaboration between the S.A.W. festival, W.I.T. Vertical Studio and Waterford Festival of Architecture.
